The Planning Board is an advisory board to the Town Board. The Planning Board must acquire and maintain basic planning material to understand past trends and present conditions in terms of development of an area. Other duties include making studies of the Town of Wilkesboro and its jurisdiction and then prepare and adopt plans such as a comprehensive plan and subdivision ordinance. The Board will develop and recommend policies, ordinances, and administrative procedures. The Board will conduct any other business deemed appropriate.

Planning Board - Regular Meetings

Regular meetings of the Planning Board shall be held on the last Tuesday of each month at 5:00 p.m. in the Town Hall of Wilkesboro provided that, if the Chairman so directs, meetings may be held at any other time or place in the Town. Absence from three or more consecutive meetings or six meetings within the space of a year shall be deemed sufficient cause to ask for that member’s resignation. Planning Board - Special Meetings

Special meetings of the Planning Board may be called at any time by the Chairman, provided that timely notice is given to each member.

Planning Board - Cancellation of Meetings

Whenever there is no business for the Planning Board, the Chairman may dispense with a regular meeting by giving timely notice to all members.
